Štyridsaťročné tawny je zmes starých tawny portských, ktorú vinár skladá dovtedy, kým výsledok nesadne do profilu štyridsiatky. Číslo na etikete teda hovorí o chuti, nie o tom, koľko rokov víno vo fľaši má.
Zrenie v starých sudoch
Víno leží v sudoch s objemom okolo 550 litrov. Drevo je vyzreté a chuťovo neutrálne, jeho úlohou je už len pomalý prístup vzduchu. Za tie roky sa z pôvodného ovocia stanú sušené plody a víno postupne stráca červenú farbu.
Hrozno z troch usadlostí
Hrozno pochádza z Tabuaça a Ervedosy do Douro v podoblasti Cima-Corgo a z Numão v podoblasti Douro Superior. Zbiera sa ručne a vyberá sa už vo vinohrade. Mušt potom dlho leží na šupkách a fermentácia sa zastaví vínnym destilátom, čím vínu ostane zvyškový cukor.

Poças
Poças is a family company producing Port and Douro DOC wines. It is proudly run by the family of the same name who founded the company more than a century ago. It's also one of the few fully Portuguese Port companies that has belonged to the same family since it was born in 1918.
While the head office is located in Vila Nova de Gaia (Porto), the grapes are coming from the Douro Demarcated Region where Poças’ 3 Estates are - Quinta das Quartas, Quinta de Santa Bárbara and Quinta de Vale de Cavalos. The Old Tawny Ports have built Poças’ reputation, but DOC Douro wines have been proving their own quality over the last 30 years.
