Desaťročia v malých sudoch
Vína z rôznych zberov ležia celé desaťročia v drevených sudoch s objemom 400 litrov. Drevo je vyzreté a chuťovo neutrálne, jeho úlohou je už len pomalý prístup vzduchu. Práve ten pomalý kontakt so vzduchom stojí za karamelom, medom a praženou kávou v pohári.
Polovičná fľaša
Fľaša má 0,375 l, teda polovicu bežného objemu. Štyridsaťročné tawny sa nalieva po malých dúškoch, takže vystačí na viac večerov.

On the nose, it shows caramel, honey, dried fruits and a slight “vinagrinho” so typical of the old tawnies.
Taste
On the palate, it is elegant but powerful and intense at the same time. It reveals an outstanding bouquet, which represents the greatness of Ports, aged in cask for a very long time: spice, roasted coffee, the fine wood where it has been matured, velvety honey and caramel.
Podávanie
It should be served at the end of the meal, pairing perfectly with a cigar.

While this winery might be one of the newest additions to the port wine lodges of Vila Nova de Gaia, the Vasques de Carvalho family history has strong roots intertwined with the history of the Douro.
In 1880, by decision of José Vasques de Carvalho given the exceptional quality of the harvest, almost all of the production was not sold that year. This wine has been aged and carefully stored in family warehouses up to the present day.
Vasques de Carvalho winery produces a variety of great port wines like LBV and Vintage Port, but the real treasure are the old Tawny Ports. In the category of Tawnies with an indication of age they are just outstanding.
