Zrenie v balseiros
Víno zreje v balseiros, veľkých drevených kadiach, do ktorých sa zmestia tri tisícky litrov. Vo veľkej nádobe sa s drevom stýka menšia časť objemu než v bežnom sude, takže zrenie prebieha pomaly a vyrovnane a drevo ovocie neprekryje. Časom môže na dne fľaše vzniknúť jemná usadenina, preto víno nalievajte opatrne.

On the nose, it shows fruit jam hints, orange skin and a slightly floral touch.

On the palate it´s a wine full of strength, with a slightly dry profile, with high acidity and a fine elegance. The connection wood-fruit achieves a perfect balance in its long finish.

Slightly chilled, it is an excellent aperitif even though it may also be paired with fruit or different sorts of pies.

While this winery might be one of the newest additions to the port wine lodges of Vila Nova de Gaia, the Vasques de Carvalho family history has strong roots intertwined with the history of the Douro.
In 1880, by decision of José Vasques de Carvalho given the exceptional quality of the harvest, almost all of the production was not sold that year. This wine has been aged and carefully stored in family warehouses up to the present day.
Vasques de Carvalho winery produces a variety of great port wines like LBV and Vintage Port, but the real treasure are the old Tawny Ports. In the category of Tawnies with an indication of age they are just outstanding.
