Dvadsaťročné tawny nehovorí o veku, ale o chuti: do zmesi ide mladšie aj oveľa staršie víno a mieša sa dovtedy, kým výsledok nesadne do profilu dvadsaťročného portského. Základ tvoria ročníky, ktoré rodina odkladala vo svojich pivniciach.
Malé dubové sudy
Zmes zrela v malých dubových sudoch, kde má víno k drevu bližšie než vo veľkých kadiach. Odtiaľ pochádzajú tóny praženej vanilky, orechov a dreva, ktoré vo víne nájdete popri ovocí v sirupe a lekvároch. Napriek veku mu zostala výrazná kyselina, takže sladkosť nepôsobí ťažko.

On the nose, it has great intensity of toasted vanilla and dried fruits, along with spice and jam, composing a complex and elegant aroma.
Taste
On the palate, it is full-bodied, sweet, mellow and elegant. Regardless of its age, it maintains freshness and a good acidity and brings to the palate what the scent already shown: vanilla, nuts and wood aroma, gently enveloped by fruit preserves and jam.

While this winery might be one of the newest additions to the port wine lodges of Vila Nova de Gaia, the Vasques de Carvalho family history has strong roots intertwined with the history of the Douro.
In 1880, by decision of José Vasques de Carvalho given the exceptional quality of the harvest, almost all of the production was not sold that year. This wine has been aged and carefully stored in family warehouses up to the present day.
Vasques de Carvalho winery produces a variety of great port wines like LBV and Vintage Port, but the real treasure are the old Tawny Ports. In the category of Tawnies with an indication of age they are just outstanding.
