Vína z rôznych zberov ležia desaťročia v malých drevených sudoch v pivniciach Vasques de Carvalho. Drevo je vyzreté a chuťovo neutrálne, jeho úlohou je už len pomalý prístup vzduchu. Práve ten je dôvod, prečo tawny chutí inak než mladé portské: ovocie ustúpi a na jeho miesto prichádzajú sušené a orieškové tóny.

On the nose, it is intense and powerful. Firstly, honey, vanilla and hazelnut aromas and then apricot hints.
Taste
On the palate, it is dense and persistent, with excellent acidity, with honey, tea and dried fruits aromas standing out. The finish is long and persistent, leaving a noticeably pleasant spicy and sweet sensation.

While this winery might be one of the newest additions to the port wine lodges of Vila Nova de Gaia, the Vasques de Carvalho family history has strong roots intertwined with the history of the Douro.
In 1880, by decision of José Vasques de Carvalho given the exceptional quality of the harvest, almost all of the production was not sold that year. This wine has been aged and carefully stored in family warehouses up to the present day.
Vasques de Carvalho winery produces a variety of great port wines like LBV and Vintage Port, but the real treasure are the old Tawny Ports. In the category of Tawnies with an indication of age they are just outstanding.
