Quinta das Tecedeiras má meno po mníškach tkáčkach z kláštora, ktorý usadlosť kedysi vlastnil. Vinice sa tiahnu po zákrute južného brehu rieky a na rozdiel od okolia od nej nestúpajú prudko: staré vinice sú vysadené na rovine, mladšie až vyššie na širokých terasách. V tých starých nie sú odrody rozdelené po parcelách, rastú premiešané v jednom vinohrade a zbierajú sa naraz.
Šliapanie nohami v kamenných lagares
Hrozno šliapu štvor- až šesťčlenné skupiny v dvoch lagares, plytkých otvorených kadiach, v ktorých mušt krátko leží na šupkách a naberá z nich farbu. Tu sú kamenné. Nasledujú dva roky v starých dubových sudoch, a drevo je také vyzreté, že vínu už vlastnú chuť nedáva, len ho pomaly prevzdušňuje. Do fľaše ide nefiltrované, preto ho pred podávaním opatrne prelejte do karafy.
Dnes alebo o desaťročia
Otvoriť ho môžete pokojne dnes, stavbu aj dlhý záver má už teraz. Kto ho ale v pivnici odloží, dostane o desaťročia niečo iné a trpezlivosť sa mu vyplatí.

Aroma
Attractive aroma, that hints at the complexity of its nature. Initially floral, herbal notes, such as rockrose and rosemary gradually take over, then giving way to red and black fruits (blackcurrant and blackberry) and finally dried plums and other dried fruit.
Taste
A notable structure and generous mouthfeel give way to a long, luxuriant finish. Can be enjoyed now, if one must, but probably better laid down and kept for decades for a special future event.
Podávanie
The perfect pair for certain cheeses - particularly blue cheeses such as Stilton or Roquefort. But for those with a sweeter tooth, it's hard to resist matching with rich, dark chocolate, especially accompanied by wintry red fruits.

The vineyards of Quinta Das Tecedeiras are located in the prestigious São João da Pesqueira area on the Douro’s left bank. This quinta got its name from the "weavers” - nuns who in centuries past would weave linen from the estate’s flowers.
The grapes that give body to iconic Tecedeiras wines, are manually collected from steep terraces and valleys of the vineyard. This brand offers everything from Tawny, LBV and Vintage unfiltered, to whites and still reds. Complexity, power and elegance are a distinctive sign of their wines.
