Messias is based at Mealhada, a small city in central Portugal, in the heart of Bairrada region. The company was founded in 1926 by Mr. Messias Baptista, and the management is still held by the descendants of the Messias family.
Since its foundation this wine house has been producing and selling high quality wines from the main demarcated regions: Bairrada, Douro, Dão, Vinho Verde, Beiras and Vinho do Porto. Messias has a lot of first-class port wines on offer. The first Colheita dates from 1947, the first Vintage from 1960. The company is also known for the high quality of its Champagne method sparkling wines and aged brandies.
